Are You Seeking Truth?

“And ye shall know the truth (the word of God) and the the truth (Jesus Christ) shall make you free…If the Son, therefore, shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:32 & 36)

“Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.” Ye (unbelievers) are of your father the devil (accuser and deceiver) and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not. Which of you convicteth me of sin? And if I say the truth why do you not believe me?” (Jn 8:42-46)

That is a very good question posed by Jesus. In other words, since they all knew he had never sinned why didn’t they believe what he was telling them about being the Son of God. He has demonstrated throughout his lifetime that he is without sin. He has made blind people see, he has healed lepers, he has made lame people walk, he has filled the nets of fishermen, he has turned water into a vintage wine, he has resurrected the dead, he has walked on water, he replaced the ear of a Roman soldier which Peter had cut off, he has fed thousands of people with only a basket of fish and bread, he has taught love and forgiveness, he has foretold his own death, burial and resurrection and ascended in to Heaven in the presents of over five hundred witnesses. The Bible says that he did many more miracles which were not recorded in the books. So, why do some not accept Jesus Christ as the savior and Son of God?

The answer is simple. They are not seeking Truth. If you saw a man do these things with your own eyes would you not listen to him? Why wouldn’t you believe the writers of the Bible who were eyewitnesses. Does anyone today posses these powers? False religions, humanism, false preachers, and the such are in the business of deceiving people about Christ and attempting to muddy the waters regarding things of God.

The Apostle Peter writes; ” For we have not followed cunningly devised fables when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.” 2 Peter 1:16

Some believe that science has proven the Bible wrong. This is not true. It has not even come close to proving evolution true. Evolution is dogma based on conjecture. It is merely assumed to be true and therefore the facts are stretched to fit regardless of contradicting evidence. There is no evidence for it. What little bit that is claimed as evidence is highly doubtful and can be interpreted in a creationist manner even better. The Bible is a historical record written by eyewitnesses and has been proven true by archeology, prophecies, and observation of the present world as it relates to specific events such as a world wide flood.

People who practice “religion” i.e. mans system of salvation by works and merit, are not concerned about absolute truth because they believe they can be good enough on their own to earn their way into Heaven. The Bible says “For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. (Eph. 2:8&9)

People buy into evolution because they have been taught it (and only it) all through school. They let themselves be hoodwinked into the evolution/humanism idea because they believe that science must have the answers. Science can only deal with what can be observed. Origins cannot be observed and is outside the realm of science. Evolution is speculation based on faith in mans ideas. Find a bone, tell a story. In other words, they are trusting in man rather than God. “God is not a man that he should lie” (Numbers 23:19) “This is what the Lord says, cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord…but blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord whose confidence is in him” (Jer. 17: 5&7) “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalms 14:1)

Someone once said to me that it is not necessary to believe in Christ to be saved because a loving God would not send his children to Hell. It is true that God will not send his children to Hell, however, unbelievers are not the children of God. “Ye are the children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.” Galatians 3:26

The Bible tells us that if we seek the truth that we will find it. In Luke 11:9 Jesus says “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Nowadays, many people, if not most, live a lifestyle which is contrary to what the Bible teaches about how we should live our lives. Unbelievers who live this lifestyle oftentimes are reluctant to accept Christ because they love their lifestyle and do not want to change. They have been deceived into thinking (by false religions) that one must “clean up his life” to be saved. This is what religion teaches. However, this is not what Christianity teaches. Christianity teaches that a person is saved by accepting Jesus Christ as his savior regardless of his situation in life. A lifestyle change is not necessary for salvation. Its is not what we do or don’t do which saves us but rather what we believe. In fact, we need a savior because we have a sinful lifestyle. We are told to change our minds about Christ and accept him. Acts 16:31 says “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” There are no other conditions. Jesus said “Whoever lives and believes in me shall never die” He did not say The moral people who believe in me or the self righteous people who believe in me. “He said, whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

A true change of mind about Christ will bring about a positive change in a persons life provided he continues to learn about Christ. However, a person must be already saved and have the desire to learn in order for Christ to change him. It’s your choice to be saved or to change your lifestyle. In addition, the Holy Sprit who is the “enlightener” or teacher will cause a change in a persons life. It is not a lifestyle change that brings us to Christ rather it is the knowledge of Christ through the learning of the Bible which brings about a lifestyle change in us after salvation.

This is not to say that we don’t have to really believe. We must and our works will demonstrate outwardly our faith.

Your eternal destiny is at stake. It is the biggest decision that you can make on this earth. Lets suppose that the Bible is correct and Heven or Hell is your choice. If you choose to believe in Jesus Christ you will have an eternal future in a place of “no more sorrows, no more heartaches, no more tears, no more sadness. A place where the old things are passed away and all things become new and perfect. A place where there is continual joy and happiness. No more sin, no more sickness, no more worries, no more work. A place where there is such greatness that it cannot be described in human terms. We are finite and living with God will be infinite for all eternity.

Would you choose a place called the lake of fire where you would be tormented for all eternity. A place called the outer darkness. A place where Satan and the false prophets have been place as a result of their rebellion against God.

On the other hand lets suppose that the Bible is not true but you have believed in Jesus Christ. You would simply die and that’s the end of it.

Which would you choose? With Christ you have everything to gain and nothing to loose. With unbelief you have everything to loose and not only nothing to gain but an eternity of torment to look forward to.

Only arrogance stands in your way of Heaven. An intellectual understanding of everything in the physical universe or even of spiritual things of God is not necessary for salvation. These things will never be fully understood by man’s finite mind anyway. What is necessary is a belief in the person and work of Jesus Christ on the cross. God has made known certain things to us in the scriptures that we need to know. One thing is clear and that is that we must use faith in which ever direction we choose to go. It is Gods way. Faith in God or faith in man? These are your only choices.

Some people have become fed up with their church and therefore equate God with a local assembly and reject him. God is not a church. God is not a religion. God is not a TV evangelist asking for money or selling something. God is not the Pope and the Pope is not from God nor is any preacher or priest. Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church. “For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor. 3:11). “…Cursed is the one who trusts in man” (Jer. 17:5) There is no world church leader on the earth today. Other than Jesus there never has been or will be for that matter. The church is not a local denomination it is all believers in Christ regardless of denominational affiliation or the lack of one. God is separate from anything. He is the Almighty self existing creator and loved man so much that he gave his Son as a substitute to pay the death penalty for our sin. All he asks from us is Faith in his Son Jesus Christ. It is a personal relationship with Christ.

“He that believes on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of Gods uniquely born Son. John 3:18

“God opposes the arrogant, but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

There can be only one truth regardless of whatever you believe. Jesus claimed to be that truth.

“Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life; no man comes unto the Father but by me.” John 14:6

Man sinned in the beginning and separated himself from God. “As by one man sin entered in to the world and death by sin and so death passed upon all men for all have sinned” (Romans 5:12) Therefore, God condemned man to eternal separation from himself. Because of God’s love for man and as a demonstration of his perfect justice to Satan and the angels God provided a plan whereby man could be redeemed and regain his fellowship with him. God became a man and came to earth. “For you see that God loved the world so much that he gave his uniquely born Son, so that whoever believes in him shall never perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and through his spiritual death on the cross provided man a way out of his condemnation by personally bearing the entire punishment for all sins of human history upon himself. “Who in his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes (punishment) ye are healed (drawn together with God).” (1 Peter 2:24) This was not a mere physical death. It was punishment for all sins. We will never know what untold agony Jesus Christ endured as our substitute on the cross.

The sin issue was once and forever settled. Your sins are not an issue for salvation. Man is not condemned because of his sins. Man will be condemned because of his unbelief in Jesus Christ and because of his unbelief in Christ his sins, although paid for, are not forgiven and therefore he cannot co-exist with God in Heaven for eternity. Christ paid the entire price for your salvation and belief in Him is forgiveness.

He that believeth on him (Jesus Christ) is not condemned; but he that believeth not stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of Gods uniquely born Son.” (John 3:18)

Your efforts of salvation by doing works are an insult to God. “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags…” (Isaiah 64:6) To do works for salvation is saying to God that YOU are qualified to be your own savior and you do not need Jesus Christ. Many false religions do just that.

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifeth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans 4: 4&5)

So, are you seeking truth or are you defending something.

Jesus Christ proved himself and his word in many ways but you may not know it yet. What have you proven with your unbelief. If you desire to know truth, you can. Just tell God that you want to know him and it will happen. Otherwise, you will never be free.

“…If the Son therefore, shall set you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36)
