Religion vs. Christianity

The common belief is that Christianity is a religion. This is not true. Religion is a system devised by man and attempts to gain the favor of God by doing good works or deeds, keeping the 10 commandants or the Law of Moses, or adhering to the writings of some supposed “Holy man”. In other words man is attempting to enter Heaven by being righteous on his own. The Bible proclaims in Romans 3:10 “There are none righteous, no not one.” Rom. 3:12 “There is no one who does good, not even one.” Romans 3:20″ Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather through the law we became conscience of sin.”

However, it is absolutely necessary for man to have a righteousness equal to Gods righteousness to enter Heaven. Man cannot achieve absolute righteousness on his own because he is a sinner. Therefore salvation had to be provided by someone who was qualified to be our substitute for the punishment of sin. 2 Cor.5:21 “For he (God the Father) made him (God the Son) who knew no sin, to be made sin for us, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. It was Jesus Christ who did the work on the cross. Whereas religion completely ignores the work of Christ and try’s to obtain the favor of God by doing works. Christianity is a belief and an acceptance of the work of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2-8&9 says “For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one can boast. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ (Gods System) and religion is an attempt to impress God with our good works.

Unfortunately, religion has crept into many Christian churches. In such churches they will teach that salvation is obtained by walking down the isle, being baptized, repenting of sin, dedicating your life to Christ, inviting Jesus into you heart, doing good deeds, weeping tears of repentance at the alter, keeping the ten commandments, turning away from your sins, feeling sorry for your sins etc. These things will not save you. Why? Because they are works and do not require faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. They are mans system of religion and leave Jesus Christ completely out of the picture. They are works. Titus 3:5 says “He saved us, not by work of righteousness which we have done, but because of his mercy…” Our sin was taken care of at he cross and is not even an issue in salvation. No one is condemned to hell because of his sins. He is condemned because of his unbelief in Jesus Christ. John 3:18 says “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of Gods uniquely born son.”

It does not matter who you are, what your position in life is, what bad things you have done in your life, how you feel or where you are. You can have salvation at this moment by believing in Jesus Christ. You can acknowledge your faith in Jesus Christ to God the father in your own words. Romans 3:22 declares “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. The choice is yours. Religion, mans system or Christianity Gods system.
