“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2-Chronicles 7:14
Christians have often said that “There is nothing left to do but pray” when faced with difficult circumstances as if prayer were a desperate last resort. We often try our fallible human solutions first and then pray ineffective prayers when they do not work. As a result God will not hear our prayers because we don’t care enough about Him to study His word.
When I wrote my book “Separation of Church and God” in 2003, I had no idea that America would be in the mess it is in today. However, I wrote that if Christians do not turn back to Jesus Christ and his teachings and quit the legalism, holy rolling, socializing, money collecting, and other church gimmicks that God may allow us to be taken over by a tyrannical government just to show us what life without God’s protection is really like.
Praying is the first thing we should do not the last. So, in this article I will review what God’s word says about prayer. Don’t think that just because you are a Christian that God will hear your prayer or that he will protect you in time of trouble. Only a handful of churches still teach how to be really effective at prayer and yours most likely isn’t one of them.
However, if you are a believer in the person and work of Jesus Christ you have the potential, through prayer, to restore America. Our founding fathers used prayer extensively, and they knew how to pray effectively, but because of the churches degradation we have not learned how to pray.
God speaks to us through his word but he has given us the ability to speak directly with him. God is infinite and can hear everyone’s prayer, keep the universe working, help the sparrows find food, deal with tyrants and everything else simultaneously.
The first condition of prayer:
“If ye abide in me, (if you are a believer in Jesus Christ) and my words abide in you, (if you know what the Bible teaches) ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7
Prayers must be addressed to God the Father
You do not have to go to any certain place to pray with a group of carnal Christians to be seen as “holy” by people. Pray only to God the Father.
“…when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, (a private room) and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which sees in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:6
In fact, the Bible says not to pray in the streets for the purpose of being seen by others. These types of people are merely attention seekers.
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men…” Matthew 6:5
Prayers must be prayed in the Name of Jesus Christ
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14
Prayers must be prayed in the power of the Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit make intercession in prayer for us to God the Father therefore, we do not pray directly to them.
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…” Eph 6:18
“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25
All of your known sins must be confessed to God the Father
“If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
If we do not confess our sins we are in a carnal state and God will not hear our prayer.
“If I regard iniquity (allow sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” Psalms 66: 17-18
You must believe that God will answer your Prayer
“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Matthew 21:22
This is, of course, is faith. God will not be pleased without faith no matter what you do.
You cannot pray for things out of your lust
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4:3
Do not pray in repetitions
“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.” Matthew 6:7
No hail Mary’s or any other prayer that someone else has written. Prayer must come from your own heart and desires. Do not pray to people or “The Saints” or any other dead people. If this country is to be saved it will be because Christians start looking to God for the answers and prayer is the way we communicate with God.
Practice Domestic Tranquility
Do not fight with your husband or wife and expect your prayers to be answered.
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7
God will save our country only if a maximum amount of truly righteous Christians petition Him according to his rules concerning prayer.
Always be Thankful for what God has done
“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
“Be careful for nothing; (don’t worry about anything) but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6
