Dear Jack,

I have just discovered your Web site and it looks like you have done a lot of good work.

However, I don’t think that there is any merit in stating that man was created with “perfect”
genes. We can all see loads of areas where the human body could be greatly improved
assuming that we are least similar to before the “Fall in the Garden of Eden”.

Just my 2 cents worth. Question of the day? If God supports cloning (soul) how can it be wrong?

Thanks

Dear Dave,

Thanks for your comment. In Genesis 1:31 it says that God saw everything that he had made and behold it was “very good”. Actually, in the Hebrew very good indicates perfection. Gene mutations are caused by something. Radiation etc. Since Adam and eve had no parents and were originals they would have had no gene mutations inherited or created. It would seem inconsistent for God to have created man with gene mutations knowing that his male offspring would have to marry their sisters. Further, since the children of Adam and Eve seem like normal people from what we can tell and the law against incest wasn’t given until the time of Leviticus many hundreds of years later we can conclude that Gene mutation did not begin until after the fall. At the very least it wouldn’t have been a factor prohibiting brother and sister marriage for many generations. The curse changed everything. For example, Gen. 1:17 says that “cursed is the ground for thy sake”

This changed the nature of the earth itself and the food we eat. (vs 18) “thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee”. All of the animals changed (3:14) to the serpent he said “thou art cursed more than the cattle and every beast of the field upon thy belly thou shalt go…” This seems to indicate that serpents once had legs.

It wasn’t until after the sin that child birth was put on the woman. (Gen. 3:16-18) and that the man would do the work. It was sin that changed everything. Man, animals and the earth would have had to change physically after the fall. In fact, sin causes diseases such as the AIDS virus which was unheard of just a few years back.

Cloning. Man can only clone the body (maybe). God creates the soul and the human spirit. This is what makes everyone different and unique. Even cloned people would have an individual soul and human spirit. The body is only a temporary housing for the eternal soul and spirit. Therefore, the so called clones would be in physical appearance only. My own opinion about why cloning is wrong is that it takes a number of try’s to get one right. This would mean that there would be a lot of deformed or retarded people created as there has been in animal cloning experiments. But ,of course, they don’t tell you about the failures.
