SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown joined gay rights advocates Friday in asking a federal judge to allow gays and lesbians in California to marry immediately while opponents appeal the ruling that overturned Proposition 8.
